Santa Hints from Santa Fe Santa

  • Posted on December 1, 2011 at 11:27 pm

I’ve been a professional mall Santa for ten+ years (under the name Santa Fe Santa) and just found your site. I like what I see, and expect to become a customer when I need more items.

Pat Lewis’s hints for newbies  were particularly good, and thanks very much for making that available. If I could make a couple of suggestions …..

Definitely memorize the names of the reindeer — in fact, learn “The Poem” by heart if you can. (All Santas have to be good actors, anyway! You’re playing a role that kids have expectations for, so play it to the hilt.) And Pat is very good!

I learned years ago to apply white make-up to my eyebrows by going from the *outer* edge to the inner one, *against* the grain of the hair. This gets the cream make-up *into* the hair, not just on top of it (visual model = the late Andy Rooney). Because I have my own natural beard, I use just a little of the same stuff on the darker spots. And I recommend using an old toothbrush to apply it.

Incidentally, if you have a *real* beard, kids hardly ever dare to yank on it, except of course for the under-one-year-olds who grab at everything. Kids know that this guy with the real whiskers really is Santa, man!

To expand on Pat’s rap about shy kids: Santa is usually the *first* non-family member those really small ones shave ever met. But he’s not exactly a stranger, either, so the Santa Encounter is a real social watershed for them. Santa has the responsibility of making sure the little ones learn how get along with somebody who is not their uncle or grandpa.

Don’t be the rat who sours a kid on strangers — that could breed an anti-social little monster and cause trouble later on for everyone! Pat’s advice to enlist Mommy as an old pal (“Remember when *you* sat here on Santa’s knee?”) is solid. Dad can also be a good helper.

Be sure to tell Mom, Dad and the Gramps how much Santa appreciates their help. This helps plant the seed in the kids’ minds that will later become the realization that Santa is an *idea* and that they, themselves, can *become* Santas in their own right (I usually suggest this to the transitional ones who are about 9 or 10, as in “You’re ready to become my special helper…”)

Thanks again for offering such a complete service and selection of items. I will be back.

Oh, and have a Merry Christmas, everyone!

 Thanks……………….

PS

I use a pinkish rouge on my cheeks and a bright red for the nose. Pat’s right: get it cheaper at the drugstore or dime store.

New Suit for Santa

  • Posted on October 22, 2011 at 4:59 pm

Santa has a new suit to wear this Christmas.  As you can see Santa’s coat has fur on both sides of the zipper.  This allows Santa to open his coat on those warm evenings and still maintain a Jolly look.  The elves at  www.costumesforsanta.com  are busy getting ready for Christmas and have a little information to pass on about Christmas trees.  To their knowledge no one actually knows who had the first Christmas tree however many believe that the location was Northern Europe.  Of course they are many stories and legends on this subject.. Perhaps Santa can tell us one day.  How about the first upside down tree??  The elves believe that this tradition started in the USA not too long ago.  We welcome any comments and info on this.

Is This one of our Irish Elves in July?

It’s unlikely that tunneling through the snow will get you to Ireland however there are some who try.  How much farther

Peace Pilgrim started walking for peace in 1953 .  She logged over 25,000 miles on foot for peace with a simple message, “This is the way of peace: Overcome evil with good, and falsehood with truth, and Hatred with Love.”  Incredible woman.  Be sure to visit this web site to hear about her pilgrimage:  http://peacepilgrim.com/

Elves

  • Posted on January 8, 2011 at 8:56 pm

Elves have been around for a very long time and it is believed by many folks that the Elves lived at the North Pole before Santa and they raised him when he was a child. In Norse mythology elves had special powers and were even considered to be semi devine. In many cultures and mythologies you will find accounts of male and female elves with most being freindly and having magical powers. Of course elves and fairies have appeared in many films over the years. Many folks have a magical elf that is with them all the time and when a difficult decision or question arises the elf within always makes the right call. The questions that often come up are:

Do Elves Sleep? Do elves dream? Do they snore? What elves can fly? Would you like to be an elf? What is your favorite elf story?

Hats off to all Santa’s elves and thank you,

Elf Larry

Thanks Santa

Mrs. Claus, all the Elves, and helpers around the world are busy each and every day helping others to experience many exciting new memories. Remember Elf Jeans advice, ” You don’t have good memories unless you make them”.

Winter Sun

  • Posted on December 14, 2010 at 1:53 am

Sun shining through the trees on a late December afternoon in Steamboat Springs Colorada reminds us all that Santa soon will be here. Santa and all his reindeer will be on their way to bring joy and presents to all the children and also their parents. So often we forget that Santa is shared around this beautiful world of ours. Let us remember that Jolly Old Fellow all dressed in red is for all and to all we send our blessings and love.

Peace Begins With A Smile

  • Posted on December 1, 2010 at 8:39 pm

Mother Theresa said that peace begins with a smile and Elf Jean is still on her Mission to give away a smile everday to someone new. You can see that her Smile Tree is growing and hopefully you are watering your smile tree each and every day. Elf Jean wants to know who is best known for their friendly smile . There are some folks who seem to smile all day long. I have a friend Howard and anytime I think of him I see this very large smile on his face. Maybe you have a friend like this and Elf Jean would like to hear you smile story.
